I worked with FunMobility to help promote their infographic, Generation OMG: How Teens Use Mobile Devices. The marketing and product teams at FunMobility had gathered data from their database of FunChat product users as well as a recent Nielsen mobile usage report to create an infographic pinpointing the increased teen cell phone usage of data, text messages, mobile apps, gaming and overall time spent on mobile devices.
How I Helped
Working with the team we devised a plan for the infographic’s promotion. Over the course of two weeks we prepared internal and external communications, including a company blog post and email newsletter. We crafted a company press release and conducted a media outreach effort to offer an exclusive to relevant media which we identified.
The infographic was first published on ZDNet by writer Charlie Osborne on the iGeneration blog: Teenagers: Mobile gaming, apps and data greed [Infographic].
The day after the infographic appeared on ZDNet’s website, we also put a news release on the wire via PRWeb and posted a blog post on the FunMobility blog. The infographic was then promoted via the company’s earned and owned media channels, including Twitter and Facebook.
The Results
The campaign successfully drove traffic to the company’s website and blog, with the blog seeing a large spike in traffic – in fact their highest number of unique visitors to date. They saw a boost in reach on social media, nearly triple, and reinforced their credibility with existing clients and contacts. The announcement received at least 4 unique mentions, including media placement on ZDNet, and dozens of re-postings.
